Republican governors congratulate Hulshof on victory

Though not all votes have been counted, the Republican Governors Association has congratulated Congressman Kenny Hulshof on his win. From the news release:

The Republican Governors Association (RGA) Chairman Governor Rick Perry congratulated Kenny Hulshof for his victory tonight in the Republican primary and the RGA endorsed him in his bid to be the next Governor of Missouri.

“Kenny Hulshof’s background and record has earned him the respect of Republican Governors across the nation,” said Governor Rick Perry. “Kenny has spent his life working for the people of Missouri as a prosecutor and as a Congressman. We look forward to having him join us as a colleague when he takes the oath of office in January and we will do what we can to see to it that his campaign is successful.”

Recent poll numbers have shown the race between Democrat Jay Nixon and Kenny Hulshof to be as close as 48-42.

“Despite campaigning for four years and running unopposed in his primary Jay Nixon has been unable to solidify enough support to win the general election. And the contrast between Jay Nixon and Kenny Hulshof couldn’t be a better match up for us. Kenny gives us a great shot because he’s the right guy for the job,” said Nick Ayers, Executive Director of the RGA.
