Brian Williams offers diplomatic take on MSNBC feuding

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, who got his start at KOAM, has to be a little miffed these days.

Not only is his network passing up the final night of the Republican National Convention in favor of the Giants-Redskins football game, leaving the coverage to MSNBC, but the dysfunctional egos at that network, primarily Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, have been out of control since the death of Tim Russert. It has to be embarrassing sometimes for Williams, Tom Brokaw, and other legitimate news reporters to have to appear with these people, who have no business anchoring convention or election coverage.

Williams made his first comments about the MSNBC situation on Jon Stewart's Daily Show, as reported by Time Magazine TV critic James Poniewozik on his blog:

"You're the big dog, you're the anchor," Stewart asked Williams, "and then they send you over to MSNBC, and literally they're beating each other up. ... Is there no control, is it Lord of the Flies?"

Williams reached for a diplomatic answer: "I think every family has a dynamic all its own."

"Does NBC have to be the Lohans?" Stewart retorted.

I never thought I would see the day where I agreed with you Mr. Turner. Keith Oberman is a disgrace.
