“Earlier today, Sen. Kit Bond announced to legislators in the Missouri House and Senate that he would not seek re-election in 2010. This announcement comes as a surprise considering Sen. Bond’s astounding record of nearly 40 years in public service.
“Throughout his career, Sen. Bond has worked far beyond the call of duty. The impact of his service to the people of Missouri and the United States of America will long be felt by future generations. His exemplary efforts on national defense, transportation and agriculture have laid the groundwork for a better America from this day forward.
“This announcement has created an opportunity for our Missouri Republican Party. Together, we must unify behind the conservative ideals that we share with families across our state.
