Message to new Senate President Pro Tem: Think harder Charlie

Two quick thoughts:

Gary Nodler is in the Missouri State Senate.

Jane Cunningham is in the Missouri State Senate.

On his Inside Missouri Politics blog, Springfield News-Leader political reporter Chad Livengood provides the full text of new Senate President Pro Tem Charlie Shields' opening day address. Shields concluded his speech with this statement:

"I look around this chamber and can’t think of 34 people who are more suited to create Missouri’s future."

Think harder, Charlie.

Randy,
Several folks have commented over the years about your hatred of Gary Nodler, this post makes it clear. We all know that you oppose all of Cunningham's efforts to introduce various types of competition into education; this appears to trigger insecurity on your part as a public school teacher so we know where hatred of Cunningham comes from. Nodler has been one of the most effective legislator's from out area in history getting more money to our local public schools; making MSSU a University and adding graduate programs; Improving the budget positions of both Crowder and MSSU; Saving our area crime lab, leading the effort for mental health parity as well as writing the standards for care for the developmentally disabled; Getting the funds for our Joplin Autism school; Writing the law the stiffened penalties for repeat offender drunk drivers and getting the funding for the New health Sciences Building at MSSU. You attacked him on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations about a visit to a movie theater and because you disagreed with his position about not interfering with an ongoing regulatory matter at DNR. When one looks at the record it is clear that you have some personal animosity driving you to these kinds of comments. The odd thing is that you seem to resent Nodler’s accomplishments for the people of Missouri and the 32nd district seemingly preferring that he fail and with it that we all would suffer. The theater story was discredited long ago but of course you are free to believe in it and flying saucers and Bigfoot. You may have wanted Nodler to get involved in the MoArk controversy, he chose not to , so what? Many people agreed with his position and appreciated his ethics . This kind of comment diminishes and further marginalizes you, so I would ask you to first ask yourself what your problem is, why the deep seated hatred or jealousy or whatever it is and then share it with us?

So Randy, 8 hours have passed and you have no answer. That is an answer; your hatred of Nodler has no justification, no reason! This will continue to consume you if you don’t get help. Try your pastor if you attend church, if not a mental health professional may be able to assist you. I do hope that some day you can recover from this problem.

Nodler ain't nothin but a political hack and has been his entire life. He was a total jerk when he was Taylor's aide and nothing has changed since then.

Could be worse - the people of Jasper/Newton counties could in a moment of temporary insanity elect Turner. But then again - it might be the first time a Missouri Senator has been impeached by his colleagues for being more inept than any other senator before him.

Thank you to the person who put some thought into how effective Gary Nodler has been for our district. The anti-Nodler (actually anti-anything positive or anything Republican) crowd, led by by Turner, doesn't look beyond the end of their noses and just do knee jerk reactions to whatever they are prejudice again.

Thank you for defending a great legislator...A large percentage of the population know who's who and what's what and they have supported Gary in his elections.

Thanks everyone and thanks, Gary, for your work on our behalf.
