So-called "Secret Ballot Protection" resolution subject of hearing

Trey Davis of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce testified today in favor of HJR 37, the so-called Secret Ballot Protection Act. It is not anti-union, Davis said.

Yeah, right!

The Senate General Laws Committee gave the bill thumbs up.

I think this law is a good thing. If people want to start a union, they can have a secret ballot where all of the workers vote. By eliminating the secret ballot, workers would have to show their support or non support in the open, and that would certainly lead to the intimidation of the old days. Believe it or not, but some of us don't want a union where we work. The employment laws on the books now protect us

Why are you against letting us have a democratic process? If we don't want a union collecting dues from us and then negotiating for the union's best interests instead of ours, we should be able to vote that way. Why do you think it would be a good thing to take the secret ballot away?
