Former Collins mayor to be released from prison next Tuesday

Former Collins Mayor Allen Kauffman, having spent four months in prison on sex charges, will be released next Tuesday, according to Newton County Circuit Court records.

Collins pleaded guilty Dec. 1 to an amended charge of sexual misconduct or attempt involving a child under 15.

Kauffman, who was given probation on a similar charge in Cole County, was the last in a long series of those caught by former Diamond police officer Jim Murray in an internet sex sting. Ironically, it was not a regular sting, but a training session which brought about Kauffman's arrest.

Kauffman, who is also a minister, was initially charged with three counts of enticement of a child.

This is a total outrage!! I thought that Missouri statute 566.151 was for all of Missouri, not by Counties. I want to know how and where to start to change or fight statute 566.151. It needs to be a tiered system like ALL other statutes in this state. I guess if your a political figure you can get off with probation while others that are innocent and charged with this crime get 5yrs min....PERIOD and have to complete MOSOP to be "reformed" even when they are not a sexual creep like this politician.
