Conservative FM talk show station coming to Joplin today

This is probably the last thing an oversaturated market needs, but as of today Joplin will have its first conservative FM talk show station.

KZRG has announced that its programming will also be available at 102.9 FM. This will make three spots on the dial where Zimmer Radio provides conservative talk, including KZRG at 1310 and 1230 AM, which was dubbed "The Talker" during its recent conversion from sports talk.

Joplin also has a fourth spot on the dial for conservative talk, 1450 AM, KQYX.

The FM talk will sign on at 11 a.m. today with Rush Limbaugh.

Isn't it awful, we the people might get some real news now?

Real news I wouldn't mind. This doesn't come anywhere close.

Randy, are you just upset that you no longer are invited to spin your yarns on talk radio now that your guy has found a new job?

Now if one of these local talk shows invited you, you would jump like a frog to be a radio star...quit whining about others

I am not too sure about jumping like a frog to be a radio star since I turned down an invitation to be on Dr. Phil last year, but I am certain I would be welcome on KZRG or any other station. I just don't believe we need four conservative talk show stations in Joplin. And while I do appreciate the local news aspect of KZRG, equating Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the other programs to news is like calling what MSNBC and Fox News Channel air during prime time news. The description does not fit.

Dr. Phil...oh that's an important show...and what emotional or marital problem were you scheduled to talk about....

Believe it or not, I have a friend who works behind the scenes...I'll check with him..and see if he tells the same as you tell...will be interesting...can't wait for your post

Lol @ Dr. Phil! Sometimes I can't even take you seriously Randy!

It was for a program about teachers and students communicating through MySpace and Facebook. THe invite came shortly after CNN wrote a story in which I was quoted extensively on the subject. It would have taken me away from school for three days, however, and I take my work seriously. I was interviewed on Mitch Albom's radio show out of Detroit that same week (though he was gone to the Summer Olympics and it was a guest host who actually conducted the interview).

At least we still have a free market in our area, for now anyway. Before the conservatives, and I know some can be annoying to ones with different views, started speaking out, all that was heard was what the very biased Liberal mainstream media put out. At least now citizens can have 2 sides of the story and can form their own opinion. Let us trust that our citizens given, the information, can determine what is fact and fiction. If nothing else, at least people are now discussing issues and becoming involved in decisions that affect them.

Your "work". That's a laugh. Ask your current boss about Dr. Simpson's feelings about you. He expressed them clearly in an open conversation 2 years ago.

To Anon. 6:04...I don't understand why randy prints anything a gutless coward like you writes. You make fun of his work, which is the one thing no one who knows Randy Turner at all has any business doing. The guy whether he works at a school or a newspaper has always been one of the first ones to arrive, one of the last ones to leave, and shows up for work every day. I doubt if Dr. Simpson, who was always first and foremost a politician, would have ever said anything bad about Randy, especially in front of a snake like you.

Nice post Tuner......and he did.

I put my own name on what I have to say. Try it some time.

Anonymous said...

Why? What difference would it make to assign a name to my posts? You have never heard of me and quite frankly Turner I don't care if you know who I am or not. It makes me no difference....besides it gets under your skin and I have to admit....that makes it all worth while.

With the liberals doing their Socialist thing on all the cable news channels and the famous big "3", it's reassuring that the conservative voice, no matter how small, still exists on radio.

Until, of course, the Socialists try to pass the bill that silences this freedom of speech.
