Skelton remains opposed to eliminating Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Fourth District Congressman Ike Skelton remains opposed to lifting Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Though President Obama called for the elimination of barriers against gays serving openly in the mlitary, Skelton says he might disrupt the military:

“We’re in the middle of two wars,” Skelton told reporters in Kansas City. “And I don’t want anything that is disturbing or upsetting to the troops.”

I think that Skelton is right on this one. Let us not rush into making this kind of chage to the military while they are still fighting the war.

That is so much BS. When you are in the military, you know who the gay people are in your unit. The only time it becomes an issue is when someone has it in for the gay soldier and turns him/her in. Skelton is just saying this because this region of the US is so paranoid about homosexuality. We need to remove the stigma of being gay or lesbian from the Military and allow these troops to serve openly without fear. It doesn't mean there will be sex going on in the barracks to any greater degree than already occurs. What nonsense.
