Father of dead Carthage infant has criminal history

The father of the eight-month-old Carthage infant whose body was found earlier today, has an extensive criminal history, according to online court records.

Eddie Salazar Sr, 28, has convictions for first degree property damage, robbery and stalking, Jasper County Circuit Court records indicate.

He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor stalking charge on Aug. 5, 2001, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail. On Dec. 5, 2003, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbery. He received a suspended sentence in 2001 on the property damage charge.

A DWI charge is currently pending, with the next hearing in the case scheduled for March 23 in Jasper County Circuit Court.
