Simpson set to turn state's evidence against former Ohio attorney general

Tbe Columbus Dispatch reports that one-time Joplin Globe Editor Edgar Simpson, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime Thursday, will testify against former Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann and Dann's wife:

Simpson agreed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation that reportedly centers on Dann and the former attorney general's wife, Alyssa Lenhoff.

Simpson's testimony might help investigators determine whether Lenhoff, a journalism instructor at Youngstown State University, improperly used her relationship with Dann to secure a $6,500 grant from the attorney general's office for the university's criminal justice and journalism departments. Simpson is Lenhoff's close friend and former newspaper boss.
