Billy Long campaign passes half-million mark in money spent

A pre-primary report filed today with the Federal Election Commission shows Republican Seventh District Congressional candidate Billy Long has raised more than three/quarters of a million dollars for his campaign and has spent more than half a million.

Since the beginning of July, Long has received $24,505 and spent $144,216.30, leaving him with $270,325.94.

Housewives are coming out in full force for the Springfield auctioneer according to the report. Since the beginning of the month, Long has picked up $12,100 or close to half of his money from people whose occupation is listed as "housewife."

The spending, as you would expect, is going mostly into media and consulting areas. Long forked over $67,508.70 to Strategic Media Services for television advertising and $58,123 to Axiom Strategies, Jefferson City, for consulting services, direct mail, and campaign yard signs (various sizes). Another $9.084 went to Rising Tide Media Group, Alexandria, Va.
