With less than two weeks to go before the Aug. 3 primary, Scott Eckersley appears to be in good shape financially, compared to his opponent, Tim Davis.
Eckersley's Pre-Primary report. filed today with the FEC, shows he has $97,012.45 in the bank. At Davis' last filing, the July quarterly report, Davis had $1,531.31.
Most of Eckersley's money, of course, came from the $100,000 loan he made to himself from the settlement money he received from his lawsuit against the Matt Blunt administration. Even without that money, Eckersley is pulling in more money than Davis.
The FEC documents show Eckersley received a $1,000 contribution from Terry Winkler, Willard, and $500 contributions from Springfield attorney Thomas Carlson and $1,000 from Carl Junction attorney Tobias Teeter and $500 from ActBlue, Cambridge, Mass. which funnels money to Democrats running for various offices.
A 48-hour filing today with the FEC shows Eckersley received a $1,000 contribution from Robert Rothschild, Jr. government relations, Sandy Rothschild & Associates.
Eckersley reported spending $11,327.36 during July, including $2,000 to Nora Cox, Springfield for consulting services, $1,776.25 to Evans & Katz, LLC, Washington, D. C. for accounting services, and $2,600 to NGP Software, Washington, D. C.
A bad sign for the Davis campaign is that not one donor listed in his July quarterly report had a last name other than Davis.. The candidate has loaned $5,600 to his campaign.

Davis is an ok guy, but he's obviously just testing the waters, he isn't really jumping into this thing with two feet. I'm impressed with Eckersley for putting his money where his mouth is by putting in his own dough. I'm also impressed with how quickly he's moving in the right direction. He was definitely the late comer, and he has a lot of fund raising still to do, but he is gaining momentum and he really might be in it to win it come November. I guess we'll see.
Davis sent out a campaign brochure, and after reading it, I couldn't decide if he was running for office or just singing the praises of the Six Flags over Jesus church at Ozark. Nothing turns me sour more than a politician waving his christianity banner along with his campaign literature. Eckersley will get my and my wifes vote.

Eck put your money where his mouth is. Didn't he get $500,000 from taxpayers in the lawsuit settlement?
Or, am I just imagining this?
You can blame our corrupt former governor Blunt for the waste of tax dollars, and you can thank Eckersley for taking out the garbage. All records showed that Eckersley only pursued litigation as a last resort and because his name was dragged through the mud.
