KOAM/KFJX to provide syndicated programs in high definition

KOAM and KFJX are now offering some of their syndicated programming in high definition, according to a news release from the station:

KOAM-TV and FOX 14 have taken High Definition broadcasting to a new level! The CBS and FOX affiliates have become the first local broadcast stations in the Joplin, MO / Pittsburg, KS market to now provide many syndicated programs in HD!

That’s right, local viewers will now be able to enjoy some of their favorite off-network programs. Shows like WHEEL OF FORTUNE, DR. PHIL, INSIDER, AND SATURDAY’S LATE NIGHT LINE-UP on KOAM. FOX-14 will air TWO AND A HALF MEN, SEINFELD, ELLEN, DR. OZ, THE DOCTORS and BIG 12 BASKETBALL all in High Definition.

In addition, this new technology will also allow advertisers to air commercials in high definition during any programming outside of Local News provided they were initially produced in HD. Both stations can also produce all commercials in HD on request and provide down converted versions for other stations and Cable.

Prior to today local stations were only able to provide Network Programming in HD. This substantial investment by KOAM-TV and FOX 14 will give local viewers several more hours of High Definition enjoyment.
