News-Leader endorses Eckersley in Seventh District

The Springfield News-Leader has endorsed Scott Eckersley for the Democratic nomination for Seventh District Congress:

Eckersley, a lawyer who switched parties to run in this primary, has the best chance to create a real race in the 7th in the general election -- partly because of name recognition and partly because he put $100,000 into the campaign from his settlement money from a lawsuit against the Blunt administration. If he wins Aug. 3, Eckersley will face whoever survives the eight-man race on the GOP side, as well as a Libertarian candidate.

Eckersley's primary opponent, Branson attorney and economics expert Tim Davis, deserves recognition and appreciation for entering the race -- especially for enhancing debates with his thoughtful input.
But Davis raised little money and seems less aggressive about winning this campaign. Eckersley continues to campaign hard and promises increased fundraising efforts if the primary ends as he would like.

Can it be measured how bad this will hurt him?
