Area TV stations lead with New Mexico murder probe

As expected, the three local television stations opened their 5 p.m. newscasts with reports on the search warrants excuted on properies owned by Joplin businessman Ron Erwin today in connection with a mass grave of murder victims that was unearthed last year.

The Joplin Globe said Albuquerque authorities have tabbed Erwin as "a person of interest," but reporters for KODE, KSNF, and KOAM said that no one has said that he is a person of interest.

KODE's Cole Heath had a "no comment' from Erwin, while KOAM had two reporters working the story, with Lisa Olliges handling it from Joplin and Chantee Lan covering the New Mexico aspect.
