Democratic ad cites Hartlzer's "controversial" record on veterans' issues
The Missouri Democratic Party posted a video today criticicizing Republican Congressional nominee Vicky Hartzler for what it describes as her "contoversial" votes on veterans' issues. Hartzler is facing incumbent Ike Skelton in the general election:

She can jump up and down all she wants to but Ike is one of the most respected Missourians to ever serve in Congress. At the end of the day, 4th District voters will remember that and he will be tough to beat.
What I will remember is that I sent him a letter and was sent a reply. Two years later when I wrote to Mr. Skelton again, he sent me the VERY SAME LETTER back. I made copies of both letters and sent them to his office along with my phone number and address and I never heard from him (or the person who probably wrote the letters for him). I was extremely disappointed, not only in the copying of the letters but in the lack of respect for me as a person who has voted for him for years...but won't this time.
Ike just can't give it up. He has become the exact symbol of what Americans are tired of in Washington.
He has had a good run but he is too old, too slow, and too detached from the 4th District to serve again beginning January 3, 2011.
Ike shold be given his hiking papers by the voters to get a different work ethic in Congress.
Gates realizes we must have fewer dollars spent more wisely on military affairs and Ike is fighting him all the way asking for more deficient spending.
Perhaps Ike will reveal in a debate with Vicky the things he has done in the last 20 years to reduce military spending.
The fact that you received two exact letters should say something to you. Most of the letter a Congressman gets will not be read or even responded by him. He will usually have staff or interns handle the correspondence. Although yes this does seem insulting, we have to remember that a Congressman may at times be just too busy to receive and reply to every single letter he may get.
The only thing is, the subject I wrote to him about has been one of his top priorities (supposedly). It appeared to me that there were files for different topics and that when my letter was opened, he or an aide said "Okay, this fits with our form letters in File K" and that's what I got. The letter I received wasn't even a close answer to what I had written him. And then, when I sent BOTH letters back with my concerns, I heard absolutely nothing...not an apology, not even another form letter. As I said before, I have helped elect him in the past but it is going to stay in the past.
