Joplin youth to be on mound with Kyle Lohse tonight

When St. Louis Cardinals' pitcher Kyle Lohse takes the mound for the Springfield Cardinals for an injury rehab assignment tonight, he will have a Joplin seven-year-old with him.

It is part of the minor league team's "Field of Dream Team" promotion, in which local youth baseball teams take the field and are introduced side by side with the player at their respective positions. It is normally a big enough thrill to stand beside the potential future major leaguers, but the Joplin North Little League Farm Club team, sponsored by Chris' Key Shop, happened to be selected to come to Springfield on the right night.

Jonah Hensley, son of Brent and KarenSue Hensley, will be introduced alongside Lohse, who is in his third year with St. Louis and has been in the major leagues for more than a decade.

It was incredible! The kids all had a great time--especially since the rains came and cooled the day and evening down! What a great night at the ball park!
