Nixon rakes in $126,000+ in oversized contributions

Wednesday was a big day for Gov. Jay Nixon.

Forty-eight hour reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission show the governor received $126,733.33 for his reelection campaign, led by a $50,000 contribution from Carey & Davis, St. Louis.

The other contributions:

Landon Rowland, Kansas City, $10,000

What do these donors expect in return for their cash infusion?

Campaign advertising is a big money-maker for the media, I guess. Gee, I long for something low-tech, like no-holds-barred open forums or town hall meetings where informed voters can get some straight answers, instead of sound bite pitches designed to get some knee-jerk response.

BTW, anyone think that the MEC site has been revamped and is less user-friendly?
