Hearing set today for resolution calling for Koster to join federal health care lawsuit

The Missouri House of Representatives has been back in session less than one week, but it is already throwing itself back into last year's habit of spending more time dealing with federal issues rather than those over which they actually have some control.

Following the afternoon adjournment today, the Rules Committee will hold a hearing on HR 39 submitted by Ward Franz, R-West Plains, (pictured) and co-sponsored by Majority Leader Tim Jones, R-Eureka, which calls on Attorney General Chris Koster to get involved in ongoing lawsuits against implementation of the federal health care bill.

The resolution asks that Koster either join 20 other attorney generals in their lawsuit or to file an independent action.

States rights are important. The Constitution does not provide the Federal Government the authority to mandate Healthcare to individuals. This is not a waste of time but a defense of the Constitution of the United States. Is that a waste of time?
