Hard times for GateHouse newspaper

A report indicates GateHouse Media is offering voluntary buyouts to it staff at the Peoria Journal Star:

Members of the reporting staff tell News 25 the deal is open to all union members who work on the editorial side of the paper.

The buyout offer comes just a few months before the newspaper guild's contract expires.

Journal Star management had no comment on the voluntary severance offer.

Our efforts to reach the union president for further details were unsuccessful.
GateHouse Media also owns The Carthage Press, Neosho Daily News, Pittsburg Morning Sun and more than 300 other newspapers.
