MoDOT, Southwest District - A major crash in Oklahoma (eight miles from the Missouri state line) on the Will Rogers Turnpike (I-44) has closed westbound I-44 at mile marker 11 in Missouri. This was done to keep travelers from being stranded in an area with no services or shelter.
Drivers headed west on I-44 are advised to wait out the closure at the NEXT available exit. Please do not count on finding a place to park in Joplin. Also NO PARKING is allowed on highway ramps and shoulders.
Alternate Route: U.S. 71 South to US 412 or I-40 in Arkansas.

Major crash on Will Rogers Turnpike closes portion of I-44
Just a few hours after the Will Rogers Turnpike reopened, a major crash has closed it and portions of I-44 in Missouri again. From MODOT:
