Hartzler- Stop out-of-control spending and burdensome regulations

Fourth District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler says the unemployment rate can be brought down even more if we get rid of "out-of-control government spending and burdensome regulations."

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) welcomes the latest unemployment rate showing improvement in the jobs picture, but insists more must be done to create an ideal job market.

“Positive news on the job front is always welcome,” said Hartzler. “But the country has still not turned the corner to see an end to the uncertainty facing job creators and elimination of the obstacles to job growth. A big part of ending the uncertainty involves getting a grip on out-of-control government spending and burdensome regulations.”

“The House has passed responsible legislation to rein in runaway spending to ease the uncertainty,” continued Hartzler. “Sadly, the Senate has done little to address government spending and end the threat of tax hikes on businesses and individuals. Failure on the part of the previous Congress to pass a budget for 2011 has contributed to that uncertainty that stifles job growth."

"In the short time the new Congress has been in Washington the House has taken steps that are beginning to bear fruit," concluded Hartzler. "But our jobs picture would be much brighter if President Obama and the Senate would focus more on job creation efforts, pass the continuing resolution and stop the onslaught of onerous government regulations.”

The Labor Department reports the national jobless rate for March stood at 8.8 percent.
