Former Army Ranger Jay Petty, Joplin, killed in tornado

John Henry (Jay) Petty, Jr., 37, Joplin, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, from injuries sustained in the Joplin tornado. He was born April 3, 1974, in Hoopston, IL to John Henry Petty, Sr. and Linda Sue (Watson) Petty.


Jay moved to the Neosho area 5 years ago and worked at Jasper Products in Joplin for the past 5 years. He spent two years serving in the Army Rangers. He loved God, his country and spending time with his family. He also loved to hunt, fish and play the guitar and had a band, Iris Road.

He is survived by his parents John Henry, Sr. and Linda Sue Petty of Gray Ridge, MO; his fiancé, Lisa Hartman, Neosho; two daughters, Hannah Petty, Dexter, MO, Hayli Petty, Dexter, MO; his fiancés children, Leif Larson and Jedidiah Larson, both of the home; two brothers, Dallas Petty, Malden, MO; Nicholas Petty, Gray Ridge, MO and one sister, Alisha Hagy, Essex, MO.

Visitation

Tuesday May 31, 2011, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Clark Chapel of Memories
Following the visitation the body will be taken to Bradshaw Funeral Home in Maldon, Mo. for burial at the Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Mo.

I am so very sorry for your loss. For those of us who do not live in the states where tornadoes occur, we simply have no idea what all of you are going through. My deepest and sincere condolences to Jay's family from the Hunter family in NJ.....
