Details were not provided, but the Kansas City Star quoted Joplin R-8 Assistant Superintendent Angie Besendorfer as saying four district buildings, Joplin High School, Franklin Tech, the administration building at 15th and Connecticut, and Cecil Floyd Elementary. Were damaged by the tornado that hit Joplin at about 6 p.m. Sunday.
Dr. Besendorfer said school will not be held Monday and it is likely classes will be canceled for the next several days.
