MSSU Faculty Senate shows support for T. R. Hanrahan

The Missouri Southern State University Faculty Senate approved a resolution this week honoring fired newspaper adviser/journalism instructor T. R. Hanrahan. The text of the resolution is printed below:

We would like to make a motion to commend TR Hanrahan for his five years of service to Missouri Southern and The Chart. With his guidance, the student journalists have produced a strong newspaper which has generated a renewed interest in its coverage. The students have been recognized for their efforts and accrued a number of awards during Hanrahan’s term as advisor. In 2010 the Missouri College Media Association recognized Hanrahan as Advisor of the Year.

We would like to thank TR Hanrahan for his many contributions to Missouri Southern and our students. His efforts have furthered the journalistic tradition on campus and fostered a quality publication for which he should be very proud.

The Bruce Speck administration gave Hanrahan the heave-ho following a series of articles and editorials written by Chart reporters concerning administration controversies and missteps.
