Obama: Death of bin Laden most significant achievement in war against Al Qaeda

Some of what the president has said:

President Obama says 9-11 united us as one family. He is recounting the war on terror and how bin Laden avoided capture until now, hiding in Pakistan.

Obama said he directed CIA Director Leon Panetta to make capture or killing of bin Laden the top priority.

Last August, Obama says he was briefed on a lead, and has been working on it for months. Bin Laden was in a compound deep in Pakistan.

"Today at my direction the U. S. launched an attack."

No Americans were harmed.

"After a firefight they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

The death of bin Laden "marks the most signicant achievement to date" in our war against Al Qaeda.

Bin Laden's death will not end terrorism in the world and will not end al Qaeda, but this is a blow to those who seek to murder the innocent in a delusional effort to push forth a twisted ideological/religious stance on the world.
