Reuters: at least 30 dead in Joplin tornado

Reuters, AP, and Fox are reporting at least 30 people have died as a result of the tornado that ripped through Joplin about six hours ago.

The City of Joplin issued a notice about an hour ago that Zmayor Moke Woolston had declared the city a disaster area and had activated it's emergency management center. City officials are working with emergency management services, American Red Cross, and medical personnel from Joplin and surrounding communities.

The city and Joplin R-8 School District are coordinating transportation for those who were left homeless.

I have been having a difficult time accessing Internet, but I will try tobprovide as many updates as possible.
