Three Joplin schools destroyed by tornado

The tornado that cut a deadly swath through the city of Joplin, killing st least 89 and injuring hundreds, destroyed three public schools, according to quotes given by Superintendent C.J. Huff to wire services.

Joplin High School,Franklin Technology Center, and Irving Elementary School were demolished. The twister also ripped the roofs off East Middle School, where I teach, and Cecil Floyd Elementary School.

Randy, so many of us who are close to Joplin and will help out.

I'm off work after today for the week and would lend a hand...have tools, chain saw, trailers, etc. My plan is to just head down there tomorrow. I helped out when Battlefield was hit several years ago and in Nixa when it got hit.

I'm so glad you are okay and so very sorry for the people of Joplin.

I hate to bring up politics but I cannot help but wonder if people really mean it when they say they want smaller government. Do they just want smaller government when it's someone else's storm that hits?

I'll bet FEMA's toll free number is busy today.
