Steelman: We have too many politicians with their hands in the cookie jar

In a news release issued this afternoon, Republican U. S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman takes a novel approach to not raising much money during the last three months- she doesn't mention how much she raised, but only the number of people who contributed and blasts the people who have an easy time reaching into deep pockets and snaring campaign contributions.

Albert Einstein once said that "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

Our nation is facing a crisis which keeps parents awake at night worrying for their children's future. The current establishment has seniors fearing for their future. In the meantime, Washington politicians do not understand the value of a dollar. They can't see that when you contribute your hard earned and saved money you and your family must sacrifice a purchase or an opportunity.

We have far too many Washington politicians with their hands in the cookie jar. Members of Congress take hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from special interests and then vote and earmark to give them your money.

I am pleased to report that our campaign received contributions from 3,126 different contributors!!! That is a truly amazing number and I am so grateful to each and every one of you for your support. This is exactly the message that we need to send to Washington. This is a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.”

Don’t you have to ask yourself - why is it that our Senators and our Congressman are the only people able to find easy money these days? Why is it that while many people in our nation are suffering, the Washington politicians are bragging about their million dollar fundraising efforts? All they have to do is extend their hands and it comes back full of special interest money. And all the while it is their policies that have sent our national debt soaring to devastating levels, increased unemployment and caused the price of gas and groceries to increase. We simply cannot allow them any more chances to ruin this country with their schemes. To do so would be beyond insanity. We must do things differently!

And we are doing things differently! Together we are standing against Washington and the special interests and standing up for the principles that will save this country. We will win this fight! We have generations of Americans counting on us and we will not let them down.

So, again, to each and every one of you who has reached out your hand to do your part to save this country we love, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know we will win this battle, because I believe in you, and I know that contrary to what Washington thinks, the real power in this nation is in you.

With your donation of $10 or $25 we will take this country back from people like Senator Claire McCaskill, who accepted thousands from unions and special interest groups. With your help we can defeat Senator Claire McCaskill and get this country headed back in the right direction. Please visit my website today to make any donation you can afford at sarahsteelman.com.

Thanks again for helping. It is Our Freedom. Our Fight!
