City reminds residents to move tree stumps to curb for pickup

(From the City of Joplin)

City officials have noticed some smaller stumps & root balls on the back of developed residential properties still remaining from tornado damage. If residents will move these to the right-of-ways and call the City at 417-627-2900 with the address, the City crews will pick them up. If you need volunteer assistance in moving these stumps or other clean-up tasks, call 417-625-3558.

Also, property owners should remind their hired contractors that reconstruction materials cannot be taken to the curb for pick-up. Typically, hauling off your leftover reconstruction materials is included in rebuilding costs so it’s important for property owners to ensure that their contractor or builder takes care of the disposal.

Reconstruction debris is anything that results from repairing, rebuilding, or new construction. Examples of reconstruction materials may include pieces of drywall or scraps of structural materials like wood or metal 2x4s, carpet or vinyl flooring scraps, fixture remnants, etc. Most importantly, shingles resulting from a roof repair or tear-off must be hauled away to a proper landfill.

Questions about the recovery from the tornado can be directed to the City’s Tornado Assistance Information Line at 417-627-2900.
