5:41: Stories from the Joplin Tornado available online, first signing set for Saturday

Thanks for the positive reception for the new book, 5:41: Stories from the Joplin Tornado, by Carthage Press Managing Editor John Hacker and me.

The book is available online at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million and its own e-store.

The first official signing is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. this Saturday, September 24, at Hastings Books on Rangeline in Joplin. Several of those who contributed stories for the book will be there at the opening of the signing and others will arrive during the four hours.

The book features articles and photography by John Hacker, articles and essays that I wrote, stories contributed to us by survivors and by those who came to assist Joplin after the May 22 tornado, plus the complete text of the Joplin Tornado Memorial Service, the final report of the United States Weather Service, and obituaries of the 160 victims (the book was published before the latest two were announced).
