Missouri education commissioner in Washington today for Obama No Child Left Behind announcement

Missouri Commissioner of Education Chris L. Nicastro has been invited to the White House by President Obama for an announcement of the President’s efforts to provide states with relief from key provisions of No Child Left Behind. Twenty-two state education chiefs and other invited guests will be present for the announcement on Friday, Sept. 23.

In advance of Obama’s speech, Education Secretary Arne Duncan has said states would be able to seek waivers around requirements in the law if they can meet certain requirements. More details will be available on Friday.
