Joplin Tornado survivors invited to Trunk-or-Treat

Survivors of the May 22 tornado are invited to join in Trunk-or-Treat, an autumn day of fun sponsored by Friends Helping Friends with Schreiber Foods. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 at Landreth Park. The day will include music, games, food and prizes.

Partners for this event include the City of Joplin, Rebuild Joplin and the local Points of Distribution Sites (PODS that have served the Joplin community.

Survivors of the of tornado who have been displaced from their home are eligible to receive a “Home Kit” of donations, including a laundry basket full of household items and a box of pantry foods. In addition, the City of Joplin has received numerous stuffed animal donations, and these will be given to the children of these families. Organizers of the event ask that families bring some proof of identification that they resided in the disaster area to receive these items.
