Joplin Tornado survivors wed

High school sweethearts who were right in the middle of the Joplin Tornado, were married Saturday. The story from Weather.com tells of Brad Anderson's heroism following the tornado and the path he and fiancee Jeanette Dominguez took to arrive at the altar, including the following passage:

The tornado damaged or destroyed pretty much everything the couple had been keeping in Jeanette’s Joplin apartment, including the wedding dress. The storm even destroyed a car Jeanette had bought four days before the tornado.

“We were pretty broke,” Jeanette says.

But generosity of strangers is getting them to the altar. The designer made Jeanette another dress for free. When Jeanette tried to cancel the catering company, they wouldn’t hear of it, and offered to do the food for free, as well as pick up a couple other reception costs. A string quartet the couple had wanted to book heard their story, and will now be playing at the wedding.

“Everyone has been so generous,” Jeanette said.

Generosity isn’t the only thing the couple is feeling in these months after the tornado. The six people who survived in that airborne car know they share a strong bond.

“There’s this certain connection,” Jeanette says when she talks about Brad’s parents. She says they’ve always gotten along, but after the tornado, they’re all closer.

Not only does Jeanette feel closer than ever to Brad’s parents, but she’s also noticed a difference in the relationship between her fiancĂ© and her sister, Rose. Rose tells Jeanette Brad is a hero for pulling her out of the apartment instead of letting her change her clothes that day. The bride couldn’t agree more.

“You don’t know how much you love each other until something like that happens,” Jeanette says. “He was definitely a hero.”

These two young people are amazing. I was their teacher and got to see them in high school. They are truly a blessing to all that know them
