Steelman renews debate challenge to Akin, Brunner

Former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman has renewed her challenge to fellow GOP U. S. Senate candidates Todd Akin and John Brunner. Her campaign issued the following news release.

Six days after offering a formal challenge to debate, U.S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman still has not received any formal notification from either of her primary challengers as to whether they will accept.

“Both Mr. Brunner and Congressman Akin have expressed the importance of a debate within the political process, I’m taking the lead on this and ensuring that Missourians get what they deserve: a transparent and fair election process based on open discussion of the issues with Missourians.”

Steelman has been traveling across the state meeting with Missourians. “I have been listening to the struggles Missouri families are facing in this tough economy and I feel a sense of urgency to find solutions to our problems,” Steelman said. “I will be there (Mr. Kraske’s Show) on the 18th; if Congressman Akin and Mr. Brunner are truly serious about a debate, the opportunity is right in front of them.”

Sarah Steelman has confirmed that Steve Kraske has agreed to host the first of a series of debates on October 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on his popular radio show Up/To/Date.

Also, Dr. Gina Loudon has offered to host the second of these debates on November 4th on her radio show The Dr. Gina Loudon Show. Mr. McGraw Milhaven and Missouri University College Republicans have also offered to host debates in the future. Both candidates have received notification of the debate times.
