Rasmussen Poll: Steelman leads McCaskill in U. S. Senate race

The Sarah Steelman campaign is trumpeting a Rasmussen poll that shows her leading both her primary opponent, Rep. Todd Akin, and her potential general election opponent, incumbent Claire McCaskill by slight margins in the U. S. Senate race.

The following news release was issued today by the Steelman campaign:

The latest poll taken by Rasmussen Reports in the race for United States Senate in Missouri has former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman leading incumbent Senator Claire McCaskill by two points, 47% to 45%. Fellow U.S. Senate candidate and primary opponent to Steelman St. Louis Congressman Todd Akin also is included in the poll. Senator McCaskill stands ahead of Congressman Akin by a margin of 2 points, 47% to 45%. The most recent republican primary poll, taken in September, had Steelman leading Akin 40% to 29% and St. Louis businessman John Brunner coming in at 6%.
