The Jasper County Republican Central Committee yesterday held a straw poll for attendees at their meeting. The poll was designed to gauge support for candidates seeking the Republican nomination for several statewide offices.
Of the votes cast for Secretary of State, Shane Schoeller received 77%.
“I am honored and humbled by this tremendous showing of support by the Jasper County Republicans,” said Schoeller. “It means a lot knowing that they trust me to work hard to protect what is sacred – our elections process.”
Other candidates expected to file for secretary of State received about 11.5 percent each of the remaining votes.
