Peggy Newton sentencing set for May 10

The sentencing of Joplin businesswoman Peggy Newton on a federal fraud charge, originally scheduled for March 23, has been rescheduled for 2 p.m. May 10, in Springfield, according to a notice filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

The government had asked for the delay so that a witness would be available for the hearing.

I am terribly confused. Did her business partner never notice these expenditures on her credit card and bank account? I mean, they must have been right there, in the open for her to see, right? I am unclear as to how this can be fraud --when fraud, to me, would be more like --Peggy created a fake company, pretended like it was providing services and paying it to obtain money. How is using the company credit card that goes to the parter --who could have seen the expenses the first month and dealt with it --considered fraud? The amil fraid statute is crap if this is considered fraud. This is considered stupid --I mean, did Peggy get the chance to pay the expenses back before she was indicted and also, doesn't the DOJ have ANYTHING, ANYTHING better to do than this. I mean, there are corrupt bankers out there....oh, but go after a small time person because you can't get that done...Jeez
