National Weather Service issues heat advisory

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM CDT
THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A HEAT
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY TO 7 PM CDT
THURSDAY. 

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...LOCATIONS WEST AND NORTH OF A POWELL
TO GREENFIELD TO IBERIA LINE FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY THROUGH 7PM
THURSDAY. 

* TEMPERATURE...AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO CLIMB
BETWEEN 98 AND 102 EACH AFTERNOON ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA. HEAT
INDEX VALUES WILL APPROACH 105 AS A RESULT OF SLOWLY INCREASING
HUMIDITIES.

* IMPACTS...INCREASINGLY HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL COMBINE TO
MAKE PROLONGED OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES DANGEROUS. HEAT INDEX VALUES
AROUND 105 DEGREES WILL MAKE THOSE PERFORMING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES.
