McNary: I got more votes than any of you did

In this news release, Republican state treasurer candidate Cole McNary trumpets the fact that he received more votes than anyone else in yesterday's primary election. Well, sure he did...he didn't have any opposition. This is one news release that really did not need to be sent.

With only two precincts left to report, the figures from last night’s primary election indicate that Cole McNary looks well positioned to unseat Democratic incumbent Clint Zweifel in his bid for state treasurer.  McNary received a total of 479,538 votes, more than any other candidate on the ballot.  Zweifel received nearly two-thirds fewer votes at 267,691.
“We always believed that McNary’s strong name ID in the St. Louis region would give him a decided edge over the incumbent, but now we have the clear evidence to back that up,” said Steve Michael, campaign manager.  “The results last night prove not only that 2012 will be a good Republican year, but that McNary has great momentum for a victory in November.”
