Jason Kander announced today that his campaign ended the most recent fundraising quarter with more than $1 million cash on hand. Kander raised more than $425,000 during the past fundraising quarter, including $195,000 during September alone. Kander has begun running tv ads that tout his military experience and readiness to make the tough calls that come with the Secretary of State’s office.
Kander’s opponent, Shane Schoeller, has been plagued by reports that his family received a no-bid contract from the state to run the Nixa fee office in violation of the state’s conflict of interest laws. Kander has also been critical of Schoeller’s willingness to rely on a few mega-donors with interests in front of the Secretary of State’s office to fund his campaign.
“I’m proud that we have worked hard to earn the public’s trust and gain widespread grassroots support for this campaign,” Kander said. “My message of fairness, impartiality and a willingness to make the tough calls is resounding throughout the state. From taking a no-bid contract, to relying on customers of the Secretary of State’s office to fund his campaign, Shane Schoeller has proven he’s in this for himself.”
Kander’s fundraising report can be viewed online at the Missouri Ethics Commission’s site this afternoon, while a summary sheet is attached. It shows that during the third quarter, the Kander campaign:
- Closed the period with $1,074,892 cash on hand.
- Has raised $1,282,051 so far this election cycle.
- Raised $429,317 during the quarter 3 fundraising period, including $195,848 from September 2-30.
