March 12 hearing scheduled for Sarcoxie Board member on child pornography charges

A 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, arraignment and scheduling hearing has been set in U. S. District Court in Springfield for Sarcoxie Board of Education Board member John Lewis, who was indicted Thursday on two charges receiving child pornographic and possessing pornographic material, both felonies.

The government is asking that Lewis, 67, who is also a member of the Jasper County Republican Central Committee be held without bond. In a document filed last week, the U. S. attorney said "This matter involves the commission of a crime involving minor victims and the crime of possession of child pornography. Further, there is a serious risk that the defendant will flee and that the defendant’s release will present a substantial risk to the community."

It is likely a decision on whether Lewis will be allowed bond will be made at the March 12 hearing.

The affidavit detailing the allegations against Lewis can be found at this link.

Keep this pervert locked up until his trial, lest he perpetuates more damage to children. I hope the Republican Party can show the integrity to condemn this unexcusable act by one of its stalwarts, and not embrace the "pro-life" stance afforded to Todd Akin, when asked to explain their members perverted ignorance

Your bias against the Republican party seems to blind you to the basic tenants of our judicial system that defendants are innocent until proven guilty. The ease at which you jump to assumptions of another's guilt only proves that, perhaps, you yourself are guilty of the very same "perverted ignorance" of which you hold in such disdain.
