Common science standards- something else for the abominable "no" men to rail about

Today's New York Times features a look at new common science standards that many states are looking to adopt.

The standards include teaching climate change at the middle school level and emphasize the theory of evolution, so no doubt they will come under attack from the abominable "no" men who dominate our state legislature:

The guidelines also take a firm stand that children must learn about evolution, the central organizing idea in the biological sciences for more than a century, but one that still provokes a backlash among some religious conservatives. The guidelines, known as the Next Generation Science Standards, are the first broad national recommendations for science instruction since 1996. They were developed by a consortium of 26 state governments and several groups representing scientists and teachers.
