Increase in fuel adjustment charge will lower bills for Empire customers

(From the Missouri Public Service Commission)

The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a request filed by The Empire District Electric Company (Empire) to change the fuel adjustment charge (FAC) on the monthly bills of its electric customers.
A residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month currently has an FAC that results in a $0.38 reduction to the monthly electric bill.  Under this approved filing, that reduction will be larger and will reduce the monthly electric bill by approximately $0.99 a month.  The net decrease will be approximately $0.61 a month.
The change will take effect on June 1, 2013.  The FAC reflects the change in Empire’s fuel and purchased power costs for the six month period of September 2012 through February 2013.
