Packed house for East Newton Board meeting, Common Core resolution on agenda

For those who know the layout at East Newton High School, just the information that people are parking in the football field parking lot by the school should give you a good idea of how many people are attending tonight's meeting of the East Newton R-6 Board of Education.

The heavy traffic is to see if the board will be the first in southwest Missouri to disavow Common Core Standards. A resolution against Common Core is on the agenda for tonight.

I had hoped to be there for the meeting, but I am in Joplin this evening, but I will have an update later in the evening.

You mean their board lets the commoners into their meetings? How very singular. And their board is assertive? Aware of the issues? That's not the Joplin Way, for sure.

Now we know where to send out resumes for next year.
