Transfer of students from troubled school district leads to heated town hall meeting

In a scene reminiscent of the times just after the Brown v Board of Education ruling, parents at the Francis Howell School District in St. Louis challenged the upcoming transfer of students from the failing Normandy School District.

Those transfers are taking place following a Missouri Supreme Court ruling.

While some of the remarks made by the Francis Howell parents about the type of students who will come from Normandy are troubling, what is more troubling is the quick fix attitude offered by a legislature that offers nothing but mandates that further damage troubled school districts while offering no measures to tackle the poverty that is at the root of the problem.
