Springfield Republican: We need more guns, not less in Capitol building

Just read Eli Yokley's daily PoliticMo update, in which he talks about legislation that might arise out of Speaker of the House Tim Jones' assistant's decision to put his loaded gun on top of a towel dispenser and then forgetting about it.

The assistant subsequently resigned, but the growing presence of guns in the capital continues to be a subject of discussion. Presently, legislators and their aides are allowed to carry weapons.

Yokley reports that Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Springfield, doesn't think the problem is too many guns. He thinks the public should also be able to bring their firearms.

Of course, as you may remember, Burlison was the one who thought it was a brilliant idea to take a gun control bill to a firing range (as shown in the accompanying video).

In other words, anyone expecting to see more common sense out of our legislators during the 2014 session is going to be disappointed.
