Technology help needed at Joplin Schools, must resist spying on teenage girls

The Joplin R-8 School District posted a job opening for a "technology specialist" Oct. 29 and included a long list of qualifications.

The one it neglected to put on the list- Don't spy on the students and take pornographic photos and videos of them.

That omission comes as no surprise since Superintendent C. J. Huff and his administration have yet to admit what they knew all along after the arrest of former technology employee Ronny Justin Myers (pictured)- that Myers had used his position as the person responsible for monitoring the high school students' laptop to violate teenage girls' privacy. Myers was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In fact, as noted previously in the Turner Report, Huff did not even tell R-8 Board of Education members about Myers' possession of pornographic photos of Joplin High School girls.

What safeguards have he and his administrators put into place to reassure parents and students (and teachers, for that matter) that this will not happen again.
