MODOT issues winter weather travel advisory

(From MODOT)

Rain changing to snow expected to begin late Saturday afternoon and continue through midday Sunday followed by extremely cold temperatures.
Weather Forecast: Rain, quickly changing to snow, is expected to begin late Saturday afternoon.  The storm is expected to move from northwest to southeast across the Southwest District, ending sometime midday Sunday.  Extremely cold temperatures will filter into the area, dropping temperatures into the teens Saturday night into Sunday. Two to four inches of snow is expected in areas with higher snow totals possible in Dallas and Webster counties.
Road Clearing: MoDOT crews will be out ahead of the storm.  Crews will work to keep roads drivable during the winter storm, hitting the busiest roads most often. With extremely cold temperatures, snow-clearing chemicals will become less effective.  Crews will do what they can to make lesser-traveled roads passable, but may have to wait until temperatures moderate and sunshine helps with snow-clearing efforts.
Travel Conditions: Roads will become snow-covered as the winter storm moves through Missouri from the northwest to the southeast.  Roads will be slick in areas where snow is falling.  Drivers are urged to use extreme caution when traveling.  Also, drivers are urged to be prepared for extremely cold temperatures and keep an emergency kit with them if they must travel.
