Cape Girardeau parent group opposed to Common Core Standards

The battle against Common Core Standards continues to spread across the state.

Today's Cape Girardeau Southeast Missourian has a story about a new parent group forming to battle Common Core Standards and to restore local control of schools.

The effort is also expanding into Sikeston and Chaffee, according to the article.

It's always about money. If a district wants money from the federal government, like the Title 1 money for reading teachers, there are always strings attached. I've always wondered why a government for and by the people seems to think they should be telling educators and local people how to use their own money.
